Priorities and compromises in recording studio design
As a studio focused on classical music, acoustic instruments, and voice, this building was designed around a large, naturally reverberant recording room that becomes an active partner in music-making, accommodating everything from soloists to chamber orchestras. That decision comes with compromises: it won’t suit every genre or workflow, but for many musicians it will prove inspiring. Other specific design concerns included robust acoustic isolation, room geometry, climate control and access for large instruments.
