Santiuste Sound Studio was designed to be a minimalist and streamlined space ideal for recording acoustic instruments and ensembles.
Designed by acoustician María Larrosa Navarro, an expert in the music-making chambers of historical palaces and religious buildings, the recording room has 90 square meters of floor space with a ceiling height of 6 meters at its center point. Care was taken to calculate appropriate dimensions and to provide robust acoustic isolation, allowing for naturally reverberant recordings with a virtually silent background. Mobile and adaptable acoustic elements offer flexibility in reverberation pickup and isolation between instruments.
The control room, with its 22 square meters of floor space and a ceiling sloping from 3 to 4 meters in height, will be outfitted with acoustic solutions to conform to all professional monitoring standards
With a focus on purity of sound for the capture of instruments in a specialized acoustic, thoughtful selection and placement of microphones is preferred to additional processing, and the single stage of analogue to digital conversion takes place at the shortest possible distance from the performers. Highest resolution PCM/DXD as well as DSD recordings are available, and immersive audio formats are offered in collaboration with IMEXsound. Experimentation is welcome!
The climate controlled 165 square meter facility includes an office/kitchen area (featuring a striking view of the village’s 9th century castle) and an accessible bathroom.
Accommodation and parking is available just meters from the studio’s entrance.
